Boxley Valley to Ponca Trail (A section of the Buffalo River Trail)

This is the beginning of the Buffalo River Trail and the trail winds along, streams, bluffs and hillsides, giving views of both the Buffalo National River and the historic Boxley Valley. Watch for all kinds of wildlife in the Valley, but keep a special lookout for the majestic Elk that graze the Valley and mountainsides. The elk herd enjoys the open fields that you will pass on this trail. This trail provides several backcountry camping spots and numerous outstanding views, high atop Boxley Valley. There are even homesteads to explore along the trail before ending up at the Ponca low water bridge.
