There’s the route some take…then there’s a route a biker takes: The Triple B Backroads Route. This route takes you through some of the most scenic areas the Ozark Mountains have to offer. Estimated to take about 4 hours for the entire loop, this route is 183 miles of picturesque overlooks and tight switchbacks that every biker looks for in a ride. Just make sure you allow plenty of time to stop and see some sights along the way, especially if you are in the area for the Annual Bikes, Blues and BBQ Rally.

Kickstands up!- Beginning in Harrison, Arkansas travel south on Hwy 43S for about 30 miles, passing through Compton and eventually Ponca. Depending on the time of year and day, keep your eyes peeled for the majestic herd of elk grazing in the Boxley Valley area just after you pass through Ponca.

Next, make a hard right onto Hwy 21N and continue about nine miles until you come to the ‘blink and you missed it town’ of Kingston. Turn left onto Hwy 74W and ride another 14 miles until you reach Hwy 23N and you’re now headed for the town of Huntsville, AR dubbed ‘Crossroads of the Ozarks.’

Just 4 miles north of the intersection, Huntsville has a good, rich history and is well worth a stop along the way, especially if you want a home cooked meal at the always popular Granny’s Kitchen. Traveling through the downtown square from Hwy 23N you will want to turn left onto 412B which takes you through the historic downtown square.

As you leave Huntsville, just hang a left on Hwy 74W and its time to open the throttle as you see some of the best countryside in the region. This trek of the journey will last about 19 miles so you can just sit back and cruise for a bit. Your next turn will be right onto Hwy 16W; then you’ll be on the outskirts of Fayetteville, AR. Follow Hwy 16W for about 9 miles until you come to the intersection of 16W and Razorback Rd and turn right. You’ve now completed your journey and arrived at Baum Stadium, one of the main sites for the Bikes, Blues and BBQ Rally. Enjoy the rally!

Pig Trail to base camp- Leaving Baum Stadium turn left back onto Hwy 16E and travel 3 miles to Hwy265N/Crossover Rd. Turn left onto 265N/Crossover Rd and head north for 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Hwy 45E.

It’s time to open it up again. Cruise along 45E for 16 miles until you come to the Hwy 412 intersection. Turn right onto Hwy 412E and take it 8 miles until you come to the Hwy 23N exit. Head north (right) on Hwy 23 a portion of “the Pig Trail.”

For the next 24 miles there’s nothing but you, your bike and some awesome riding. This is where you want to make sure you pay special attention to those speed limit signs. It does have some tricky twists along the path leading you into the popular motorcycle stop in Eureka Springs. If time permits you may want to swing downtown and park your bike for a walk through the historic district or perhaps you take a ghost tour at one of the old historic landmarks like the Crescent Hotel.

From Eureka Springs you want to head east on Hwy 62E traveling through the small towns of Berryville, Green Forest and Alpena. This stint of the journey is roughly 40 miles and you will see some great countryside with a mix of small town charm along the way. Your final turn will be a right on Hwy 65S taking you right back to base camp in Harrison, Arkansas. We hope you enjoyed the Triple B Backroads Route. Get some rest. Tomorrow we will plan a trip on one of the other 7 scenic routes showcased in the Motorcycle Riding Guide of the Ozarks. Your riding has just begun!
